Made in America

With the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in China and most of the world, I am glad I buy American made when I can. I know there are some items we don’t make here or can’t grow here, but when I have a choice, I buy American made.

Let me start by saying I don’t buy toilet paper from China. I always buy toilet paper made in the USA. We have several companies here, such as Georgia-Pacific, Kimberly-Clark and Proctor & Gamble, just to name a few. I also buy tissue (Kleenex), napkins, paper towels, paper plates and trash bags made in the USA. It just makes sense to support our American jobs and products. As for slider or zipper bags, not Ziploc bags (they aren’t made in the USA), Hefty seems to be one of the few brands that are made in America.

Just go to the grocery store and look at food labels, more food comes from outside the USA than you would think. See my article titled “Where Does Your Food Come From?” for more information.

We all know it is very hard to find clothing and shoes made in America! It seems like our clothes come from every other country, some I never even heard of.

I always make sure my makeup is made in America. I don’t trust those other countries, when it comes to my face, eyes and lips.

Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) people have had to wait an extra length of time for American made pre ordered vehicles, because some of the electronics were ONLY made in China and the people in China were too sick to work. Think about all the cell phones, tablets and computers, most are made in China. What would we do without our smartphones? Don’t forget televisions and most other electronic devices that we rely on everyday. stated in an article from 2015 (Global manufacturing – Made in China? | Leaders) that China produces 80% of the world’s air-conditioners, 70% of its mobile phones and 60% of its shoes. Let that sink in for a minute.

When we bought new appliances for our kitchen, we chose Whirlpool. They say “Designed, Engineered and Assembled in the USA”. They may not be 100% made in the USA, but we still supported American jobs.

You may be thinking what does it matter where our products come from? That is a good question. To summarize, buying USA made products secures future businesses within America.
